Drawing inspiration from the Indonesian word ‘jeda,’ meaning ‘pause,’ Jedda Studio embodies the essence of tranquility and sophistication. Situated at the intersection of art and fashion, the studio’s design reflects a nuanced approach to space, characterized by serenity and perpetual advancement.
Conceptual Synthesis
The studio’s conception is deeply rooted in the synthesis of contrasts, mirroring the ethos of modest fashion. Embracing the values of serenity and sophistication, Jedda Studio serves as both a container for the wearable collection and a space for hospitality. At its heart lies a tea bar, offering a departure from the transactional nature of modern retail. Minimal displays allow each garment to shine, complemented by a striking commissioned painting titled ‘Stain’ by artist Galih Adika. This artwork, mirroring the hues of tea leaves, disrupts the conventional retail environment, infusing warmth and depth into the space.
Embracing Natural Light
Despite its proximity to a sewer passage, the studio breaks free from the confines of traditional retail spaces. A sandblasted window on the west-facing wall invites natural light while maintaining a sense of privacy. This delicate balance allows for the modulation of sunlight, establishing a harmonious rhythm within the store. Additionally, the use of cast resin in door handles and cloth hangers introduces an element of vulnerability, fostering trust and connection with visitors.
Jedda Studio transcends conventional retail design, offering a sanctuary where art, fashion, and hospitality converge to create a unique and immersive experience.
