Integration within Industrial Context
Atelier Cuadro Benegas, nestled within an industrial shed, seamlessly integrates with its surroundings. Utilizing techniques from the industry, the pavilion adapts to the existing structure, allowing architecture to prioritize an aesthetic of simplicity and functionality.
Spatial Composition
The program unfolds within a single volume, strategically organized to optimize functionality. An office area is delineated against an existing wall, while the central space accommodates meeting and reading tables. Open walls, extending only partially to the ceiling, delineate distinct zones within the studio and atelier.
Subtle Industrial Character
Despite its industrial setting, the pavilion exudes a light and subtle ambiance. Polycarbonate panels diffuse natural light, concealing the industrial surfaces while creating a luminous and inviting atmosphere. The architecture celebrates simplicity, allowing the space itself to take center stage.
Structural Simplicity
Constructed with a limited palette of materials, the pavilion embodies simplicity, economy, and ease of assembly. The uniform system of laminated beams and columns simplifies construction while ensuring adaptability to the existing space. Features like a swing door enhance flexibility, enabling privacy and noise isolation as needed.
Translucent Facade
The alveolar polycarbonate facade not only provides translucency but also privacy, responding sensitively to the industrial context. It creates a delicate balance between openness and enclosure, allowing natural light to permeate while preserving the intimacy of the workspace.
Architecture of Lightness
In the words of Lacaton and Vassal, the architecture of lightness emerges from a synthesis of technical and intellectual ingredients within its context. Atelier Cuadro Benegas exemplifies this ethos, harmonizing with its industrial environment while offering a space of tranquility, creativity, and luminosity.
By seamlessly integrating functionality, aesthetics, and adaptability, the pavilion transcends its industrial origins, becoming a beacon of architectural ingenuity within the industrial landscape.
