Passenger Vehicles
The Indian auto industry started 2024 on a positive trajectory, with February witnessing the highest-ever sales volume for the month. Passenger vehicle sales surged to 3,73,177 units, marking an 11.3% year-on-year growth from February 2023’s 3,35,324 units.
Maruti Suzuki Leads the Way
Maruti Suzuki retained its position as the market leader, with sales reaching 1,60,271 vehicles in February 2024, a growth of 8.7% compared to February 2023’s 1,47,467 vehicles. Tata Motors emerged as the second-largest player, surpassing Hyundai, with sales of 51,267 vehicles, representing a robust 19.6% growth.
Two-Wheelers
The two-wheeler segment also witnessed substantial growth in February 2024. Total sales escalated from 10,68,015 vehicles in February 2023 to 14,48,479 vehicles in February 2024, marking a remarkable 35% growth.
Market Leaders
Hero MotoCorp led the two-wheeler market with sales of 4,45,257 vehicles in February 2024, compared to 3,82,317 vehicles in February 2023. Honda followed closely with 4,13,967 vehicles sold, while TVS recorded sales of 2,67,502 vehicles.
The robust performance of both the passenger vehicle and two-wheeler segments in February 2024 underscores the resilience and adaptability of the Indian auto industry. With continued innovation and consumer-focused strategies, the industry is poised for sustained growth in the coming months.
