TikTok’s Dominance in App Downloads

TikTok continues its reign as the most downloaded non-gaming app globally for the second consecutive month in March, surpassing competitors in terms of app installations.

Impressive Installation Numbers

According to a recent report, TikTok amassed over 58 million installs in March alone, solidifying its position as the top non-gaming app in terms of downloads. Following closely behind is Facebook, securing the second spot with more than 56 million installations globally.

Facebook’s Presence

Facebook, along with its affiliated apps Instagram, WhatsApp, and Messenger, maintained a strong presence in the top five most installed non-gaming apps worldwide for the month of March.

Geographic Distribution

Analyzing the geographic distribution of installations, Sensor Tower’s data highlights that TikTok’s largest number of installs originated from Douyin in China, accounting for 11% of the total, followed by the United States at 10%. Meanwhile, Facebook’s highest number of installs came from India, constituting 25% of the total, with the US following at 8%.

Top Contenders

Aside from TikTok and Facebook’s apps, other notable entries in the top 10 most installed non-gaming apps globally include Snapchat, Josh, Zoom, Telegram, and CapCut, showcasing the diverse range of apps capturing users’ interests.

Google Play Store Trends

While TikTok leads in overall app downloads, the data reveals that Facebook maintained its top position in downloads specifically from the Google Play Store, indicating varying preferences across app platforms.

Rising Stars

Sensor Tower’s report also recognizes the ascent of ShareChat’s short video platform Moj, which secured a spot in the top 10 list of most downloaded non-gaming apps worldwide from the Google Play Store for March, reflecting the dynamic nature of the app landscape.

In essence, TikTok’s continued success in app installations, coupled with Facebook’s strong performance and the emergence of new contenders, underscores the ever-evolving landscape of mobile applications and user preferences globally.
